In the system scaffold, the wedge is the only part that moves being impacted the most by wear and tear. Companies got used to replacing them, or the ledgers altogether, because of “worn-off” wedges. If you replace 5000 wedges per year, that could be about $7500 in direct costs – parts, labor, re-packaging, forklift time – and an additional $7500 in indirect costs, as you could have spent the time on more profitable tasks. Proscaff wedges, made from a well-defined stronger material than the one largely used in the industry, were tested for 200 uses. At 10 uses/year that is 20 years, wedge maintenance free
